BGL is an experimental digital currency that allows instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. BGL uses peer-to-peer technology to operate without centralized management: transactions are managed and shared by the network collectively. BGL Core is the name of the open source software that allows this currency to be used. Bitgesell is a young blockchain project started in April this year by Emma Wu. The codebase is borrowed from Bitcoin.
It has some differences in several aspects. Bitgesell has learned from the mistakes and challenges that Bitcoin and other PoW networks experienced in their early years. The main goal at launch was to create an asset whose value will continue to grow through several changes to the internal asset model.
Bitgesell's main goal is to create a perfect store of value that mimics bitcoin, with the same supply of 21 million coins as bitcoin.
Bitgesell Features
The most important feature that distinguishes Bitgesell from bitcoin is that it has a powerful burning mechanism. 90% of transaction fees are burned on Bitgesell. Bitgesell encourages people to stick around, as transaction fees are higher than bitcoin. The halving, which occurs every 4 years in Bitcoin, is set to be once a year on Bitgesell. Another important feature of Bitgesell is related to block size. Bitgesell has a block weight 10 times less than bitcoin. It makes it work faster.
